I think you will need to re-register your current eSim to the new handset.....

From what I've read, a new eSIM is required. A couple of forum posters elsewhere (reddit) have said that if you've kept the original QR code then it can be scanned again, but it generated disagreement. Their post generated disagreement, not the QR code 😄

Thanks. I’m almost certain you can’t re-scan the same QR code even for the same phone if you accidentally deleted the eSim.

I’m pretty sure I’ve tried that before and it didn’t work.

I have my original QR code and it doesn’t work. Unfortunately I don’t live in area that has a retail ATT location. Maybe it can be done by a phone call?

With Verizon I had to call them. My 11 Pro wouldn’t activate because it was trying to activate the physical sim it came with instead of the eSim and the eSim is what was registered. I tried scanning the QR code before calling and that didn’t work.

What did you say to them to get it resolved? I have to do this later tonight.

I simply called them and said my new phone won’t activate. She looked and asked if I switched sims and that’s when I told her my older phone was using eSim. Then she explained the new phone was trying to activate the physical sim and the eSim is what was registered on Verizon side.
Simply say your phone is not activating they’ll know what to do like she did hopefully.

From the carriers we've been working with, some will reissue a new QR code, and you can keep your number and plan. Others will not reissue a new QR code so then no reuse possible.

My carrier has an app where I can generate a new QR code at the press of a button, just select what line I want a new esim for and done. Seems it would be easy enough to implement for US carriers as well.
