This will sound like a very silly question, but hey ho.

Current iPhone 6 is laggy, slow and when I move between apps they always restart rather than picking up where I left off (yes, background app refresh is on).. question is, I assume that this is a problem of the phone rather than some legacy issue that will be brought forward to my new phone when I restore?
 
It's a RAM issue. Only 1GB on that phone. The moment you switch to another app and do something with it, the previous app quits in the background. Regardless of the official word from Apple, keeping a lot of apps open in the background in the task switcher DOES impair the performance of the phone.
