I'm sure it would be tough to fit it, but how cool would it be to have an HD video camera on the Nano? It could serve as your GoPro camera replacement for filming skiing, bike rides and other activities, oh yeah and also an MP3 player :D

I can see there is some usefulness but I still think it's too small for the touch screen. Make it bigger if you are going to insist on touch screen.

It would make no sense for Apple to do this when the iPod Touch accounts for over half of all iPod sales. With the rise in popularity of the iPhone and iPad, the iPod, especially the nano and classic, are clearly on the way out.

I beg to differ on the Classic. Why would they rebrand it "Classic" if not to forever hold on to it as the Classic iPod. If you ask music people, they will all tell you they have the Classic. There is no other iPod when i t comes to music. Who cares about apps or internet when you have a phone for that. Just a pure beautiful classic that can hold 160 gigs..no streaming, no worry about no internet access to get music....your full library..on you..all the time.

I think it is naive to assume because it has the name classic it will be around forever. It could be gone next year. I think it was on the block this year but enough outcry or interest just kept it here. They want to sell apps, Classic doesn't help with that. The landscape is changing.

Personally, I wish they'd go back to this:

Amen to that, I even like my fatty better than the newer smaller design. I haven't been interested in in the Nano since they dumped video playback and that's unlikely to change.

And hard to believe the nano starts at $129. Without video this feels like a $49 device.

Waste of time

I see no sense in this, out of the people i know that own one of these use the nano as a watch whilst at the gym/jogging etc (myself included). the camera would simply never be used

No, don't put something in that people will actually use, like bluetooth. Put in a tiny, underpowered, useless camera that no one wants or will use.

I'd be much more interested if there was a speaker. All sorts of applications for this device open up with a speaker.

Agree, even a crappy speaker would be great, for audio book lovers. That and bluetooth and I'd buy one. Even if just bluetooth, I would still buy one.

"How can we make this even worse to use...umm, how about adding a camera?"

Pointless addition to poorly designed product. Are we sure this is made by Apple?

Pointless unless they add Wi-Fi functionality (Which would also be useless) as uploading pictures would mean plugging into your PC/Mac everytime you wanted to take a quick picture which is something Apple are keen to get rid of on everything else.

Personally, I wish they'd go back to this:

me too. actually, i already have the blue one, so i won't be purchasing another one for a long time. ipods have a long life and i am very happy with mine. still use it daily with a set of big pioneer studio headphones.

by the way, remember the rumors about the new apple employees beeing assigned to fake dummy projects? :D this one seems very dummy to me.

I don't care one way or the other about the camera but I love that color of green. Just like my 5G Nano. I'd surely buy it if it comes in that color. I have the current 6G Nano and I like it overall. I don't actually use it much because I have so many other iPods and an iPhone, but I like to wear it as a watch and use it occasionally. In my opinion, the thing they really need to do to make it better (aside from that awesome green color) is finally give us a 32GB option. I don't care if it costs more. The Nano has been stuck at 16GB for almost 4 years. My iTunes music library (without videos) is about 100GB. A speaker and/or BlueTooth would be much more useful than a camera too. And as I said, I don't mind paying more for any upgrades I would actually use.

A 1.3 MP camera is not going to give you any good looking photos, so what is the point of taking any? Besides, even non-smart phones come with 3.2 - 5.0 MP cameras now anyways so why wouldn't you just use that? (Assuming they don't own an iPhone)

I always liked the size of the 3rd gen Nano. The colour options were horrible and it gained the nickname "fat nano" but it's stumpy height always made it seem small in comparison to gen 1, 2, 4 ,5.

I loved this nano, I still use mine with my iHome alarm clock. Great design.

First off a 1.3mp camera is worthless second I like my Nano, because it minimalist.

They would do better without a camera...

Now if they are going to put in the same camera as the iPHone 4S... then I might be persuaded to change my mind.....
