I just hope the 2.0 chip goes below the 2G mark.

Looking to buy at the end of this year.
Actually the chip costs much less than $2000(US). I think what you mean is that you want a PowerMac G5 with 2.0GHz (or faster) CPU(s) to be under $2000(US).

Who really cares about the chips, give me anything Dual 2.6Ghz Dual Cores, Dual 2.8 singles whatever. Just make sure Jobs that you have either a 6600 or X600 standard, PCI Express, with X800 standard on top model, same price for all i care, DDR2 maybe bluetooth or wireless (maybe not). Just let the hardware around the chip catch up. Bring out dual video cards now that would rock, 2 6800 Ultra's would cause serious carnage. Do something creative rather than stick a 3Ghz in it and keep 512mb Ram with a 9600XT, I don't mond paying the premium, but a reality check would be nice.

What we need but won't get

Single 2.0GHZ 512mb DDR2 80GB 128mb 6600 16X Superdrive $1399
Dualie 2.0GHZ 512mb DDR2 160GB 128mb 6600 16X Superdrive $1899
Dualie 2.5GHZ 512mb DDR2 250GB 256mb X600XT 16X Superdrive $ 2399
Dualie 3.0GHZ 1024mb DDR2 250GB 256mb X800XT Blu-Ray (don't ask) $2999

NEW iMac's will be released concurrently

17" 1.8GHZ 256mb 80GB 64mb FX5200 Combo $999
17" 2.0GHZ 512mb 80GB 64mb 6200 SuperDrive $1299
20" 2.0GHZ 512mb 160GB 128mb 6200 SuperDrive $1699
NEW HD 23" 2.3GHZ 512mb 250GB 128mb 6200 SuperDrive $2299

Maybe not but i am allowed optimism - Blu Ray -opt and HDiMac - Year of HD and what new HD stuff has Apple released.

New PowerBooks will be a surprise release at WWDC all with HD Displays and Superdrives
13" WS HD Display 2.0GHZ 970GX 512mb DDR2 80GB 128mb 9700 mobility $1999
15" WS HD Display 2.3GHZ 970GX 1GB DDR2 100GB 128mb X700 mobility $2499
17" WS HD Display 2.3GHZ 970GX 1GB DDR2 120GB 256mb X800Mobility $2999

Apple will also introduce new iBooks

12" 1.5GHZ G4 256mb 60GB 64mb FX5200 combo $999 Superdrive and 80GB $1299
14" 1.67GHZ 512mb 80GB 64mb FX5200 superdrive only $1499

Emac's and Mac Mini's will also be updated in the next 3-5 months but thankfully i don't have any ideas

If you've gotten this far you have done pretty well and I wish you a Happy High Def Year

Well most of it sound OK, but

I don't think that apple would increase the price on the entry PB with $500
Well hope that those iMac you mentioned comes very soon

Serious amount of smoke there. We might see some of that, but I don't think we'd see even half of it.

And a nit... it's eMac and not Emac. The same way it's iMac.

Updates will to the PM will be next week. Take my word on it. I have a super secret inside so... umm

Ok... I'll tell the truth. I'm getting ready to purchase a dual 1.8 PM from someone so the updates will be very soon, and include everything that people are dreaming of. (including blueray, Tiger, Nvidia 6800s in the lowest models, default 1 GB of RAM, the ability to produce gold at will, you get my drift)

Speaking of smoke...

Updates could be anywhere from now to WWDC - so the timing could be correct. Low end will probably be 512MB and no longer 256MB. The high end could go to 1GB but Apple may just flatline it at 512MB.

And I can't see Apple using a $400 video card on the low end systems. That would jack the prices up.

As for Tiger, we will see that when we see it. We won't get Tiger for a couple of weeks after it's announced anyway, and I don't think Apple has produced a version of Tiger that is Gold Master quality yet. There would be hints around when the release candidates for Tiger star being available to developers. After Apple has a Gold Master copy of Tiger, it will take a few weeks before they have it manufactured for shipping.

Man i wrote a thesis i was bound to make a mistake, there are quite a few in your small comment ,and don't pick up eMac just because of my newbie status, I have grown up with mac's and i do realise the proper way of spelling their products, i am no newbie to this forum, it's just that i am stupid. Because when I changed computers macrumors obviously didn't automatically log on anymore and i also no longer had the same email address, so i had no way of logging on and subsequently i had to create a new account the other day.

Who cares about EMAC's eMac'S EmAC'S any way, JRM PowerPod wants a PowerMaC pOwERMAC PM.

Bring on the HD PowerMac with fully integrated 23" HD Display on the left side with dual Blu Ray and a Quad Quad Core G6. That's what it is all about. But I guess a Dual 3.0Ghz would do just fine
