My new white 11” pro magic keyboard is starting to get air bubbles underneath at the bottom. It was not exposed to moisture or anything. Certainly over time this will cause the white material of the outer case to completely disintegrate from the body.
I don’t mind normal signs of wear but after a few months this is disappointing imho.
On the picture it is on the top left.
Anyone else having the same issues ?

Yikes. I agree with sparksd. I have never seen that before. I’d open a case with Apple support; should be covered under the warranty.

It’s getting worse by the day.
I was hoping this keyboard would last longer than the previous generation but not so.
On a holiday right now but I will go to a service provider once back home.

Definitely out of the ordinary. I Have two MKBs, a new version a couple of months old and another three years old, and neither have any delamination at all.

That’s bad. I had to get mine replaced because the rubber ring around the keyboard that keeps the screen from touching the aluminum palm rests came off.

Thankfully, Apple replaced it for me. Hopefully these are both exceptions to the rule.

Hope you get it sorted out and don’t have any repeat issues!

Solved under regular guarantee without apple care.

I used the mail in service from apple.
First they sent me the new one and reserved my creditcard for the price of the MKB.
When they received my damaged one they lifted the CC reservation after two weeks .
All without communication but thats OK.

I applied straight away a skin on my new MKB to give it some more substance.

Thanks for the top notch service apple.

I’ve been using the first and currently second generation of Magic Keyboard Pros since 2020, I’ve had multiple replaced through AppleCare but this new version released last year has massive quality issues, the “skin” is peeling from the case in certain areas that it’s leaving bubbles on the case exterior. Anyone else having this issue also?

No, mine's in great shape. Even our 2020 MKB - used by my wife - looks great. Both used on a daily basis. But I have seen other posts similar to yours - bubbling.

The one from 2020 was always in great shape, the new one from last year is already having QC issues, there’s like a spider vein bubble o n the front and the bottom is straight up coming unglued or apart.

Definitely defective. Mine is still pristine (once I wipe the fingerprints off it).

I have exactly the same issue, although it’s now a year old. I went to an Apple Store, and they have said that as it’s only cosmetic, there isn’t anything they can do… So I’ve made a complaint, and I’m going to possibly try the sending it off method.

It’s only ever had wet wipes for a clean - so I really don’t believe it’s water damage. For a product of this cost, it’s extremely poor - and the fifth keyboard I’ve had over three different IPP’s in 6 years. I had Surface Pros for years up to that, and their keyboards would last for years and still look and operate just fine.

I've seen a few examples of this on here.

Also no idea why they don't put some small feet on the bottom of these, would really help with marks especially on the white.

I’m not entirely sure why it even needs this plastic cover. The base is metal anyway, just put some feet on the bottom - it’s good enough for the laptops. Really poor for the price though.

"only cosmetic" - really absurd. It's clearly a defect that should be corrected in assembly and made good for buyers stuck with this issue. I much prefer the cloth cover on my Surface Pro keyboard much better than the vinyl covering on my MKB - especially for the premium price (another absurdity).

Yes, that’s what the Apple Store said (according to policy) - with the addition that they would class is as water damage (which I know it isn’t), they wouldn’t change it anyway. So I immediately filed a complaint - and not sure really where to go now to be honest. Just very poor.

The question being, what can we do about it, because Apple is saying to me that it’s cosmetic - i.e. no change - although there is clearly something wrong here with it. They claim also likely water damage, which I would contest as it’s only ever got damp from cleaning.

Honestly for a product this expensive, this is just poor. I’m starting to think applying a skin early on might be the only way to avoid this long term. Anyone else tried that?

That's why I keep avoiding Apple accessories with this kind of rubber coating. I have their silicone case, Smart Keyboard Folio, and original Magic Keyboard before. The coating keeps bubble up and eventually peel off.
