    Hey all,

I have the standard 2GB of RAM in my 13" MBP 2.26GHz. I'm contemplating 4GB of RAM and I want to know the best option. MacSales has 4GB for less than $70, is a cheaper option available? Thanks for the help; it's appreciated.

$70 is about right for 4GB of RAM. You won't find it much cheaper.
I think OWC guarantees their RAM's compatibility with Macs though.

Also, you only need more RAM if you have used all your current RAM. There is no benefit of speed otherwise.

Have a look at crucial, I always find them cheap. Even if you don't want to buy a product from them, run the system checker to make sure you buy RAM which will work with your mac.

OWC and Crucial are the best. Both are around $64.99, you don't want to buy something that's cheap and possibly not compatible. Stick to these two brands and you will not have a problem.

Amazon doesn't have a compatibility guarantee.

Why does that matter if it's the exact same RAM that *is* guaranteed by OWC? If you get the right type of RAM, there's your compatibility guarantee right there.

Sometimes RAM is faulty, even if you get the same brand.

Then send it back. That's not compatibility, that's just faulty RAM.
