I dual boot Windows XP on my Mac. Today I encountered the Red Light audio port issue, and I was unable to turn it off using a paper clip. However, this only occurs when I am on my Windows partition. When I restart in OS X, the light does not come on and my headphones work normally. To me, this means that it is NOT a switch, because I didn't change anything inside the port between restarts. Am I correct in assuming that the problem is a setting in my Windows partition? If so, how can I correct this?

In addition to my regular headphones, I also use a USB headset for Vent. This too does not work with the red light, which is confusing to me as it does not involve the headphone jack.

I've done all the toothpick, cleaning etc. to no avail, and because the light only comes on when I have Windows up, I think there is an issue with my settings. Can anyone help me?

If the port functions properly on OS X, it’s probably a Windows driver issue or a software conflict. Are your Boot Camp drivers up-to-date?
