New remote with iPhone

i have an ipod 2g and just tried my new apple remote with my friends iphone 3g. i can confirm that it works exactly the same as the iphone remote. the volume does not work but everything else does.

Is the OP's iPod remote wireless or wired? I'm also not sure if the 2G iPod is capable of wireless remote use? Thanks in advance...
