Spec bump most likely. I don’t think micro LED is coming this soon but would love to be wrong.

Arggh, this is a pet peeve of mine.

People keep mentioning micro-LED, but none of the rumours have said micro-LED is coming any time soon. All the rumours have pointed to mini-LED, which is a very different technology. Mini-LED is an evolution of current LED technology.

However, even then, the pundits believe the mini-LED models may not arrive until late 2020 or else some time in 2021.

I am sorry.
Still very close to OLED, but I can’t call it that.

3rd Q 2020, or 1st Q 2021, most likely in 2021 now.

Mini-LED technology really is nothing like OLED technology. OLED will also still have a large advantage for picture quality too. The real competitor to OLED is supposed to be micro-LED, but micro-LED is effectively still vapourware.

What the rumours say that is coming soon to the iPad Pros is mini-LED, which isn't directly related to either micro-LED or OLED.

Good luck selling this
March 2020: Now with 6 GB of RAM in the 512 GB and 1 TB models. New triple camera.

Oct/Nov 2020: New A14X CPU and and Mini-LED screen.

Mini-LED is entirely different to OLED. I mean, they both have the letters “LED” in them, but that’s basically it. And micro-LED tech that people keep bringing up around here is a half-decade away from being implemented in an iPad. 🤷🏻‍♂️

“Mini-LED screens” are still LCD screens, but with lots of mini LEDs behind the LCD to provide the backlighting. OLED are not LCD, and it has nothing to do with backlighting. OLED pixels each give off their own light, and requires no backlighting.

I’m very surprised that people think Apple would do 2 model refreshes within a year for the iPad Pro. If one comes in March then it will be around 18 months later for the next one after that.

Yes, but one could be a rather silent , under-the-radar “refresh” with relatively minor spec bump, while another in September may be marketed far heavier.

That, or an iPad Pro with mini-LED screen may branch off as a new, more expensive variant of the regular iPad Pro. It’s not that far-fetched. The rumours surrounding mini-LED only mention the 12.9” iPP getting it, with no mention of the 11”. Now, Apple aren’t dropping the 11” out of the lineup, so perhaps a special 12.9” mini-LED version is introduced in addition to the “regular” 12.9” iPad Pro. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sort of like the 6gb for 1tb hard drives. A new screen tech definitely not!

One would hope so...

10000% It could have an 8K 240Hz 3D OLED Display and there’s no way I’m replacing a perfectly excellent 11” iPad Pro. It’s like buying a new car each year No way, until 2021 an 5nm 12 Core CPU Hold my beer Apple.
