I'm glad you got it sorted, but they shouldn't have refused you in the first place.
Yes, the failure level is 80%, but (they know) the batteries are rated to hold 80% capacity after 500 cycles, not 47. There is always going to be a curve to it, but that failure speed is over 4x the expected rate.

I ask if it’s worth the time to pursue because I just don’t have the time. If it’s going to damage it, I’ll take it back. If it’s not a big deal, I’ve got a lot of other stuff to worry about.
