So you think when iJon's house burned down he made that story up?

Are you saying iGary made this up?

GFLPaxis just looking for attention when his dog was sick?

You think Chewey didn't really need a new home?

If a thread looks suspicious to you then just ignore it. But don't call the forum member liars because of a few trolls.

I don't know whether they were making it up or not. And, I didn't call anyone a liar.

Eh, just because y'all don't agree doesn't make me wrong.

You are right, you didn't call anyone a liar, but you do believe most of it is made up. I prefer to give them the benefit of the doubt.

You can think whatever you like: You are not wrong when you say you think it's trolling.

However, when the all y'all are in majority agreement, then the community rejects an appeal to exclude certain posts.

Hmm?

If many people disagree with you, this is an exciting opportunity to re-evaluate your own opinion and see if anyone has provided good reasons for you to reshape your thinking. I don't think anyone is saying you're wrong -- but your sentence as quoted above implies that you think those who disagree with you are wrong.

Another way of saying this: why pronounce your "correctness" when you could use this as an opportunity to reflect on the degree to which you are or are not correct from your own point of view? Who cares about saving face in a forum when your own private thinking (or your willingness to ignore your own thinking) is at stake?

Check this over-written Wikipedia entry on the relativist fallacy, too ...

1. If someone is making it up then that person is sick. And, I don't doubt that many of these type of stories are made up. People fake illnesses with the children and make up lies all the time to get sympathy.

2. If not's made up....maybe I don't get it. If I had a traumatic event in my life, that last thing I would be thinking about doing is running to MR to run my mouth about it.

Legitimate advice or input is one thing to me, but simply telling a sob story is different to me. I view people like that as different. I view them as wanting attention...they don't care what kind of attention.

I was just raised that you don't put your problems off on other people and depress them with it.

That's ok that you don't get it, but why make a thread to put other people down?

So people use a different way to express themselves than you do. Live and let live (and post). :)

Republican?

Now, that is a fighting word. Let's go. <puts fists up>
:D

Let's put it this way...most Democrats are too conversative (economically and socially) for my tastes.

jeez people, you can disagree without bickering and being rude... i mean, consider the fact that we've probably been hit with fake troll pity stories in the past, and it's easy to see how this idea came about... i don't agree with the idea but it's not like an absurdly-far-out-wtf-idea...

I say old chap, think it's a good idea to stop "pity parties"?

This thread itself isn't going anywhere but down hill . I think we all know that no one is about to tell people they can't express themselves here in the community forums. So let's just leave it at that :).
