All I can say is Dayyyyuuuum. So far everything sounds really good.
Now all I can hope for is a 7nm A12X but that might be a longshot.
I am warming up to the idea of a 7nm A11X 6 Core CPU. With HMP.

It sounds like a really good update this year, I wonder what new things they will give to the Apple Pencil 2, hopefully they also update the ASK keyboard. Face ID will be a great edition to the iPad Pro, I love it on my iPhone X.

it will most deffintly have an A12X CPU for marketing reasons, while techie people will know that a A11X would be better than the A12, average people will presume otherwise due to the naming. ( the A10X is still better than the A11 and A12 in GPU and sustained CPU preformance ) basicly the X in A chips stands for "Beast Version"

Hoping that the new Pencil has outrageously low latency.

The current one is already really good, but if Apple absolutely nail the writing/drawing feel beyond reproach, it will be a major milestone.

Google made the latency in its pen for the pixelbook last year 1ms versus the apple pencil so there's deffinitly room to compete there

Doesn’t really matter since whatever version they decide to put inside it will be a great chip just like the one inside the current iPad Pro and the one before it. The one area that Apple is doing well in is the chip sets.

yeah it only matters from a marketing perspective, last year's ipad pro was critisized for using the A1OX when APPLE released only 3 months later the A11.
if that happens again this year it will give off the feeling that apple used an old chip design from 2017 for its "PC replacment" device when there's already a brand new one relased just a month go ( which will be worse than last year since the A10 was the latest chip before the A10X )

I sold my 10.5" iPad Pro a couple weeks before the iPhone event in September, gambling on there being a vastly redesigned model at that keynote. I figured that if it didn't make it into the September keynote, it would make it into a separate October event. It's looking like the second scenario is about to happen.

Here's my problem though: My original plan for upgrades this year was replacing my Series 0 Apple Watch with a cellular Series 4 (done, and loving the new watch), and doing my yearly upgrade through Verizon from an iPhone X to an iPhone XS Max (done, and loving the new phone). I was going to keep my 10.5" iPad another year, but the possibility of a bezel-less redesign with Face ID and a new way of connecting the keyboard was just too much for me to resist and I decided to sell my iPad early while I could still get a decent amount of money for it.

The thing is, I have been so impressed by my Series 4 and XS Max and have been having so much fun using both, I really wish I had just not messed with my iPad setup. I've now gone a couple of months without my beloved iPad Pro and I'm really missing it. And the longer I wait for the new one to be announced for pre-order, the more thoughts start creeping into my head that maybe I should just forget about it and not buy one at all since I've gotten by this long without one.

But I know that once Apple shows off the new toys, I will immediately have iPad lust again. I hope there's a compelling software story to go along with this new hardware. I'm still optimistic that what I've done is going to pay off in spades as far as how I'm going to be able to use an iPad in the future.

And I am realizing that no matter how hard I try, I cannot give up Procreate and really need an iPP for the memory.

Couldn’t care less about the iPP rumors, but a new pencil has me very curious. I hope they think of another way to charge the pencil as that lightning port concept gets in the way when I want to draw while the iPad is charging. I know there are 3rd party pencil chargers, but I hope an alternate solution to charging the pencil through the iPad is one of the improvements for the 2nd gen pencil and the new iPP.

I will wait for sales, not going to give Apple the same amount of money they got from me last year.

It will definitely have an A12X. I can't think of a single time that Apple ever released an older numbered chip in the flagship iPad. The last one technically happened a few months before the A11 came out, so it still follows the rule.

Lets take a closer look at those rumours:

”The new iPad Pros will have an edge-to-edge display and will not feature a Home button”. Okay, but still no new display, namely oled or micro-led? Less bezels is nice.

”Face ID in landscape” yes, it better be working on a landscape mode with iPad. But still, touch ID work just as fine.

”External displays via usb-c” okay, could be nice if you really need this. Im perfectly happy with Airplay.

”New apple pencil” cool, if you really need one. I don’t.

”New connector for accessories” same as above.

That’s it? That’s all there is? I think there is nothing exciting for us ”non-pros” who don’t need pencil or external keyboard.

I hope they have a 1TB option for storage.

I have almost 4TB of movies and I'd love to store as many as possible without streaming from Plex.

That would make it my perfect airplane device.

Its great to hear about a new iPad Pro just wish I knew WHEN it will be coming out..I assume still this year?

I feel like you're just taking a list of the new (rumored) features and downplaying them as nothing exciting because you personally don't care about them. I could take the same list and go on for multiple paragraphs about why I'm excited for each of these new features.

Don’t get me wrong, those rumoured features are great for those who really need them. But let’s be honest, Apple pencil and external keyboard are features that are mainly used for productivity in mind. They are not essential for let’s say, average iPad user, including myself.

Fair enough, but this particular model is not called the iPad Average User. It's called the iPad Pro. You're not the target demographic for this machine, so you can't really criticize it for having features you don't care about.

Then maybe you don't need an iPad Pro and will do just fine with a regular iPad.

That sounds like a logical explanation. So Apple is currently making iPad which is basicly excluding most of its potential ”average” users?

They have an iPad that's targeted to their "average" users. It's called iPad and you don't have to wait for the announcement to get one. I mean, really, Apple is literally telling you in the name that the "iPad Pro" is for professionals.
