Hi,

I had this option pop up, not sure why as my Mac is connected to the TV and it's the only display.
This icon in toolbar is always lightened up.

How to get rid of this stuff?

Thanks

I have just had the same thing appear. I just updated and use a Samasung odyssey ark as my main screen and this has broken the display input. it worked just fine before 15.2.

You can remove that from the menubar. It's in System Settings / Control Center / Screen Mirroring. If you set it to "Don't Show in Menu Bar", it will go away.

This is problematic because it breaks sidecar (when you try to extend the display to the iPad, it stops "screen mirroring" to the main display, causing the monitor to freeze or go black).

I had thought the OP wasn't having any technical issue and just wanted to remove the icon from the menubar. You seem to be introducing a different topic, but I might not be reading between the lines of the OP's post.

Thanks, but why does it show at all? and shows as "extended"?
I have only one display connected via HDMI, so it's really odd.

I have no idea. It does seem odd. My HDMI monitor does not show in the list given. My iPad using Sidecar does.

Do you have an iPad to try Sidecar? I wonder if your main display would stop working as it did for @amiller039. If so, then your main display appearing as extended is more than odd, but indicative of a problem.

Just reposting this here:

Please make sure that y'all report this to Apple so it hopefully gets fixed soon™.

I have the same issue with a single external display connected via DP to the Mac Studio.

What is your issue? Is it that the menubar icon appears or that you have a problem with the external display when connecting an iPad with Sidecar?

I don't use sidecar and I only use the one display so there is nothing really "broken" for me except that it shows "screen mirroring" as active in control center all the time and the extra icon in the menu bar (which I removed).

Still, it obviously treats the single primary monitor as an extended display - which it didn't do before 15.2.

I have this issues to, LG C3 OLED + 2 other Display’s mirroring it. My 2 other displays are NOT WORKING after this update. Was fine in 15.1 SwitchRezX only sees the LG to. 2018 MacMini,This is a major issue.

I'm having a display issue that started with 15.2. Universal control to my iPad is intermittent. Sidecar works fine. My problem could be completely unrelated to that of this thread.

@Astrohunter, did your problem start with 15.2?

I believe it was 15.2 beta.
M1 Mac Mini + LG OLED.

Reported the bug with screenshot to Apple.

EDIT:
Fixed in 15.3 Dev beta
