New SD to Lightning adaptor - what's changed?

How's this different to the SD to Lightning adaptor which only recently arrived with the 12.9inch iPad Pro - looks identical and it's not a new item on the store???

I don't think anything changed I think it was just a highlight of the adapter.

Isn't the new one usb3 enabled for the pro where as the old one was usb2

The Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader basically got updated back in December 2015 to be able to do USB 3 speeds.

The newer SD card reader is larger:

I thought the 9.7 inch Pro still only worked at USB 2 speeds? If so, is a new adapter really needed?
