Trying to sign into iCloud toi start getting apps on new but used ipad..
I keep getting Verification Failed - There was an error connecting to the iCloud...
I have checked time on iPad and it is correct...
Any ideas???

Just tried to download EBAY and it says i need a newer ios... I am on 10.3.4... I don't want to upgrade to the latest os as I think it will bloat my ipad??
What's the workaround for this?????

Use the www then?

Another app issue... YOUTUBE... Logged in.... But when i select my account/channel (basically where I have my 1500 saved vids, account prefs) it says "error fetching channel list for account"
What is going on, I just want a product that works.... ????
Does anything work on these older iPads or is Apple doing what Apple does??? Forcing people into spending their monry on latest stuff??!

iOS 10 is pretty old, I feel that most developers stop supporting OS versions after a while. You will be much better off updating to the latest OS supported; I can’t imagine that the bloat it’ll add (if any) will be worse than your apps missing functionality or not working at all.

Thanks, but when i go in settings and update software it says it's up to date??? Am I doing this wrong? Never had an ipad before.

In that case you’re pretty much stuck with what you have. that’s kinda the risk of getting an old product, the software stops getting supported. Only options are to live with your purchase or trade it in for a newer iPad; if those apps that aren’t working for you are crucial to your usage then it might be worth it paying a bit more for newer hardware

You bought an iPad from TWELVE years ago. How is any of this surprising to you? Your expectations are ludicrous, you should have researched at least a tiny bit before getting such an older model.
I assumed it was like mac, my 2012 is running fine... with Cat and Sonoma.. ?? Can they be jail broken? Or older verion of apps downloaded???

Unfortunately, it's not like a Mac but much more limited (hardware and software wise).
A jailbreak won't help you run a newer version of iOS or the apps themselves.
Via the AppStore, you always get the most recent apps compatible with your device.
But lots of services (eBay, Youtube, ...) significantly limit the usablity of older versions over time or completely block them from accessing their servers.
I have to concur with the other comments...
Nevertheless, perhaps you can still find a use case for the device. I still use an iPad1 and iPad2 as eBook reader, music player and to remote control other devices.

Thanks..
But damn, what good is this sultry looking black mirror if not for apps.. Maybe a chopping board? A mirror? Paper weight?
It's pretty much useless now?

I had a friend who did this. Bought a gen 2 iPad in 2020 used. Then he just constantly complained about the screen, battery life, lag, and utility of the device. It was his first Apple product and just lambasted Apple and anyone that used Apple products. In fact, he still does. It is one of those things that crawls under my skin far too fast. Then he compares it to his brand new pixel… my mind implodes.

You cannot spend $50 on a tech product from over a decade ago and complain that every developer isn’t developing for it.

Really, how much more work or time is it to save up and get a current or last years iPad? For $250 and be set for the next ~10 years?

One of my favorite quotes: I’m too poor to be cheap.

Spend $50 on a device that doesn’t work - you don’t use it and someday you still spend $250 on a device that does.
