For those of you that used the new “setup with old iphone nearby” setup process:

Does all the data get transferred from old phone to new phone (could be as frigging fast as airdrop) or only settings and rest still comes from cloud (quite slow).

Apps?
My own music?
Pictures?

If you are eager to play with your phone on the way home from the store, doing the quick setup with allow this. You will still need to restore your data and apps afterwards.

That kind of makes it pointless.

I simply used an itunes restore on my X

I always do that. But new iPhone X is still usb 2.0 not 3 I understand?

first fresh instal I have done since iPhone 4 about. Ive always restored from backup and my 7+ going into iOS11 made it laggy and had weird issues.
The X is blazing fast of what I remember the 7+ was on ios10 but its quicker it seems with the animations and mutitasking.
I basically had to load al the apps fresh and sign into everything again. A big pain but it was about time I had a fresh instal.
iCloud photo sync worked good about 3 hours later they all showed up.
