What's the point of this tbh, if I am hearing a smoke detector, I do not need Siri saying "There is a smoke detector". I turned it on cause why not.

Remote notifications and automations. For example, I turn on all the interior lights for emergency egress and flash the exterior lights if a security or smoke alarm goes off.

That’s awesome. So that “check in” is the intercom feature I assume? Very good stuff.
Yes, except it’s live two-way audio, unlike the intercom feature. It also shows my camera if it's in the same room as the HomePod.

Echo Show detected the smoke video. HomePod didn’t even wake it’s screen.
Not a peep out of mine using that vid or my HomeKit alarms. Well done Apple

How long are you waiting? It takes 30 seconds for me. Also, make sure your notification settings are correct. @elvisimprsntr, I see yours looks fine from an earlier post…unless it thinks you’re not home? I have mine set to 'Off' for 'People' since I want to receive it whether I’m home or not.

Also, make sure you have 'Critical Alerts' enabled for the Home app in Settings -> Notifications.

I just tested using the actual smoke test button. All three of my detection devices worked.

1. Kidde
2. Alexa
3. HomePod

I had to set the people notification setting to “off.” “When I am home” did not work.

Just tried it again and left the alarm running for over one minute and nothing. It simply does not react to this particular kind of smoke alarm. Thanks anyway.

What if you aren’t home and can’t hear the smoke detector?
Ok, now I get it!

I thought it would just tell whoever is in the house lol.

I tested it for myself, and it scared the crap out of me…

If you are not home, you cannot hear it but you will get the notification. If you are in a big house in another section, you might not hear it, either.
