New speck candyshell exactly the same as the old one?

So I picked up a new speck candyshell (white/gray) combo and I notice that the power button and volume buttons are still extremely hard to press. There is essentially no tacticle feel when pressing these buttons with the case on.

I thought the new candyshell's addressed these issues?

im pretty sure that the "new" ones only addressed the rubber on the bottom part of the case being torn

if your old candyshell made in taiwan so it's the same, if it's made in china the silicone layer should be a little different.
