Oh man, thank you so much for that info! No, I haven't tried either of those. Didn't even think of that. I'm at work now but will try both tonight. That would be AWESOME if one or both of those did the trick. Even if it just fixes the boot up trouble and not the system hangs. The system hangs have been getting worse again, recently, and it's really frustrating. I'll let you know how I make out.

hfg-Just a little delayed follow up here: I tried the SMC reset, and it fixed the start up issue, and I thought it had fixed the system hang issue, since I didn't have another hang for about three days, but alas, the hangs came back. They do seem much less frequent than before, but are still happening and are definitely not your garden variety freezes, like I've had occasionally in the past before switching to the SSD.

Anyway, I appreciate your help. I had looked into the NVRAM thing but that doesn't seem like it would do anything and I'm not experiencing the symptoms it describes.

If you have any other ideas, I'm all ears. Thanks again.

This is another update to my ongoing issue after installing an SSD:

I'm still having the same trouble with system hangs, but have noticed several symptoms that I figured I'd list here in case it triggers an idea from someone. The symptoms are:

1. Right after a hang, about 75% of the time, either Firefox or Thunderbird will pop up a "problem with javascript not responding" notification.
2. Everytime I restart my computer, the system forgets what my desktop wallpaper is set to and replaces it with a generic one.
3. Everytime I restart my computer, Google Drive asks for permission to access my keychain, even though I always click "Always Allow". I never was asked for permission from Google Drive prior to installing the new SSD.

Hopefully one or more of these symptoms triggers an idea in someone. I would really love to be able to solve the problem!
