I installed a new 2TB SSD in my NVMe slot to replace the 128GB Fusion drive and left the 3TB hard disk in there. I moved my Downloads and Documents to the hard drive but everything else is on the SSD. Now, three weeks later, in DriveDX I see that my SSD is already at 95% lifetime left with over 12TB written to the disk! I'm not sure where to look figure out where the massive writes are coming from. Activity Monitor shows disk usage stats, but it doesn't look like it breaks them up based on the drive. I use Chrome extensively with tons of tabs. CrashPlan is backing up my hard drive. Microsoft Outlook is running with tons of disk usage. However, I can't tell what process has rewritten the drive five times over since I copied everything on to it.

My system is a 2017 iMac running Mojave 10.14.6. I have avoided Catalina because of all of the negative press I've seen, but if it fixes this issue, then I might upgrade.

Any ideas where I should look?

Thank you!

Chuck

My only offer is - don't be like this guy 🤣 Otherwise I have nothing useful to offer. Good luck - hopefully someone else will jump in!

Have you looked in Activity Monitor to see which process is doing a lot of disk writes?
Open Activity Monitor, in the menu choose View/All processes
click the Disk tab and look at the processes to see who is doing more writes that other processes.
