I hope it's going to be good. The trailer looks great but it's supposed to.
Good point. But still, I guess if you've ever been a fan you have to see this and it was only a matter of time before Star Trek did what Star Wars did in terms of prequels.

Don't you mean Michael Bay: Explosions!
If it was Michael Bay I wouldn't be so forgiving. But who knows, Abrams could get lucky and make something that isn't an overhyped mess.
Those things are very huge. Even that perspective alone makes the film seem a lot more scarier.click for perspectives

What? When was Star Trek dead? I'm picking up books every few months and waiting them to get their act in order for a new movie or TV series.Ok, but this movie is trying to save a franchise; and I support it for doing that. If it has to change canon to do that, fine by me.
Anyway, I think its awesome. With today's Iron Men ...
OT: That's exactly why Ironman was overhyped garbage and that's why A LOT of movies/tv shows suck these days. And please don't look at this trailer as just FX covering a thin plot.

The Future Enterprise isn't bigger at all.For the record, that is the modified enterprise D. The original Enterprise (1701, not the nx-1 or whatever they called the other one) is much smaller.
I should have been more specific. The Future Enterprise isn't larger then the standard Enterprise-D.The Enterprise D, Picard's ship, which came 70 years after the age of Kirk, is indeed much larger than Kirk's Enterprise.

I'm sure having the show on TV from 1987 - 2005 is going to do wonders.

All JJ Abrams does is string you along just enough to keep you watching his TV shows.
I'll see the movie eventually but that's only because I'm a trekkie (although I think Battlestar Galactica is better).
Being on the air for over 18 years and being a science fiction show with a lot of canon to back it up doesn't help either. How I loved Save Enterprise.I don't know how much deader you can get than when a studio cancels a series. Ratings went from 10 million a week in the 90s to 2 million after Enterprise. I don't like to admit it, but it was on life-support. Books are great, but they can't really carry a TV franchise.
