I actually have lived with macs since the late 70s...
Did you now? The first Mac was released with much fanfare and the now very ironic "1984" commercial in 1984. Unless you're talking about the pre-Mac Apple I, ][, and ][+

Definitely not, that's why this is the first TV spot we posted about. I thought the use of the mac bootup sound was particularly cool and thought people would like to check it out!
Okay, technically not a Mac. My first computer at home was the Apple II. Two floppy disk, a CRT, and 256k of ram. No hard disk.Macs since the late 70's? <squints eyes quizzically>

Thanks! I was thinking that he looked familiar but couldn't place where I'd seen that look before. You're right! That shot of Fassbender reminds me of Ed Harris's Christof character in The Truman Show.
Revolutionary new ad describes product being sold as "pretty ok, I guess".The ad for the movie described it as "must see"??!?!?! I was not going to see this before but damn well going to now!
Yes, but those things don't feature Kate Winslett frowning earnestly and giving Steve a heartfelt "but what about the children" kind of scolding for his appalling attitude towards fatherhood. Or have Woz scolding Steve to his face in a way Woz claims he "would never do" and never had done in real life, but you know he was thinking it! Because he pretty much admitted it and seems to be in ecstasy because his Seth Rogen alternate self got to do it.So, how manyApple/Jobs cliches and memes can you fit into one movie? Looks like they're going for all of them, plus the regular Hollywood "relationship/family" stuff. The trailers made my skin crawl even more than Kutcher's movie. Say la v. Do we really need interpretations of Jobs, especially tacky ones, when we already have keynotes, D8's, various videos and the products?
I like action movies (Bourne etc, not Fast and LowRent), and I like movies/tv driven by "words", so stories by Sorkin and Boyle. Trailers generally put me off, but the selection of words in these trailers, and the surprisingly wooden delivery disappoint me greatly.Yes, but those things don't feature Kate Winslett frowning earnestly and giving Steve a heartfelt "but what about the children" kind of scolding for his appalling attitude towards fatherhood. The dramas! We need more dramas! And haven't you heard, it's an action movie driven almost exclusively by words! How the heck did they pull that off? Usually to have an action movie you need a few car chases and for sh#% to blow up. Maybe they command Siri to self destruct an IPhone. I know Steve passed before Siri was introduced but if they can have Woz yelling profound indictments to Steve's face that he never actually said, they can do anything.

That's how I felt about this trailer and another one I saw. The dramatics were overblown by a mile on Kate Winslet who was doing her best William Shatner impression, and "Woz" was a wall of words. I'm now curious to see how out of character Woz is going to be. He admits he wasn't the type to stand there and scold Steve. So of course in the movie he stands there and takes Steve to task...about pretty much everything...all at once. That would be really cool. I've never seen an Apple II in person but we do still have my husband's early 80's IIe. It's set up and still runs. He sometimes plays his old games on it. I have an old Atari 800XL in storage. I couldn't afford an Apple in those days. I wanted a IIc but the Atari was the best we could do and it served well. I worked on the old "Trash 80's" in high school. I love the old computers. I never really got very good at programming but I did avidly read about the components and compare specs and endlessly compare the IIe to the IIc.I wish Apple II's were available to buy again from Apple that were brand new. Great memories. Even emulated Apple II's would be fine using today's most inexpensive CPUs and components.
I wonder if the movie will show any Apple IIs.

I know I'm going to watch it when it's on TV. I only venture out to theaters these days when there's a spaceship involved.
