There's a lot we don't know about what LG is doing with the UltraGear 5K and how it compares to the Studio Display XDR. Primarily, what is "Hyper MiniLED" (9,216 LEDs in 2,304 zones) and how does that array compare to the MiniLED array Apple is using? The LG miniLED 5k display is available to preorder for $1200: https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-27gm950b-b-gaming-monitor
This seems like you are getting the same panel as the Studio Display XDR with the additional benefit of additional inputs and higher refresh rates (165 Hz at 5K, 330 Hz at 1440p) but without the Thunderbolt or downstream USB-C ports, Webcam or speakers for a lower price than the basic Studio Display.
I think we can assume Hyper MiniLED is an improvement upon the backlighting found in the Studio Display. We can hope, I think, that there will be some clarity soon with regard to how it compares to the Studio Display XDR.
If you look at the high-end array used in the $8,799 ASUS ProArt 8K, you'll see it uses expensive, next-generation LEDs (see attached screen shot). My assumption (emphasis on "assumption") is that Apple uses something similar, and LG's approach in the UltraGear is a cost-cutting measure.
