That looks pretty nice, would be good to get some more detail on it in terms of specs etc

    That looks really nice!

Quite similar to the rumored "mini-tablet," looks somewhat Apple-like too. If and when Apple releases the mini-tablet, I think it will be similar to the CrunchPad.

    $299?
The same thing with an apple logo on it. Would go for double.

This thing looks great. What's the typing interface look like?

Damn I was just going to post that.

Here's some pics so people don't need to leave the thread:

    Those are from here.

I honestly do not care about an Apple label. This is exactly what Apple needs to do to sell 10" touch screen tablets. Hell, if it was made by Apple, I'd consider it @ $499. However, $299 has me not thinking twice about buying one of these.

    Spcs:
    Atom (Don't know Ghz)
    512 MB Ram
    4gb SSD

They have my attention...for that nice 200-299 price, I'm in

And those comparing it to a full desktop/laptop...just don't.

Yes, you can buy a laptop for 299, yet the iPod touch 32GB runs more. They are different devices to do different things!

Would someone care to explain what the purpose of a tablet is? Would it be portable? If so, how the hell would you use it in any sort of portable sense?

It looks like the kind of thing which would be awesome fun for about 10 minutes, before either your left arm becomes tired from holding a thick and heavy display, or your right arm becomes tired from being waved in front of it. I just don't get it.

(The white version) looks like something Apple actually would've designed...

That thing is beautiful, I would easily buy one of those over a crappy netbook... atleast that is worth the money...

    Interesting find.

Will Apple be entering this market? The ordering of 10.4 inch screens would seem to indicate a tablet or netbook device. With the success of the iPhone/touch platform, this seems to point towards a tablet rather than a netbook.

As some have said, the Apple tablet would cost more. If done like the iPhone/touch, an Apple tablet would be wonderful.

    Fun times. :)

seriously...I'd buy it before another netbook(the EEE 701 is feeling old)

Although there is the netbook that has a slide out screen similar to this(but smaller) Gizmodo covered it a while back..I'll see if I can find the link

The article says the tablet can be BUILT for $250, which means it will cost more than that. I'd guess $400. If Apple built something like this, they'd definitely price it for at LEAST $800, since the 16 GB iPhone is $600 unsubsidized.

I simply can't believe Apple has not filled this gap yet. Stoopid!!

It was plainly evident about 7 months after the first iPod Touch that this was going to be a huge new product segment....

This would be great for people whom need to take a lot of notes such as college students. When I was in college I never made the move to a laptop in class because it did not work for notes unless the teacher used a perfect outline without diagrams.

Once diagrams are added, calculus equations or a hair brained professor that jumps back and forth typing on a laptop becomes useless. But a device that could replace multiple notebooks (the paper kind) would work quite well.

This device would also be great for professionals that must take many notes. All this needs is a handwriting program that presents the user with a lined paper look and many hours of battery life. So if it runs 2 hours and weighs 2.5 lbs add another 2lbs of batteries for a very long run time.

the crunchpad as I understand it is primarily for web browsing and I suppose may have a few document viewers etc too, although being that the custom os is linux based and it's currently running on an atom cpu theres no reason (space allowing) for it to run more.

I'm hoping part of the reason its going atom is that it will run a little more than a browser as to be honest you could use an arm cpu (snapdragon for example) which could do that and get a lot more batterylife in the process.

If Apple made one of these it wouldn't have such a huge bevel and would look 10x cooler with an aluminum finish.
