I finally gave up on the mac mini. mine was running out of memory (8 gigs) and it is getting glitchy with bluetooth and sound and such.
so I got the 21” 4k iMac a referee with a fusion drive.
the best way to get my setup on it ? I have the minis ssd drive in a usb3external case and the time machine drive as a usb 3 dive with all the files from the mini’s internal drive copied on it. so plug the drives into the iMac and let it go to town? better to get it off the ssd or time machine?
also I have another monitor to add on. is osx the best way to manage another monitor?

migrating from the ssd will be faster than doing it from time machine. Might be best to start fresh though.

um, what do you mean by this? I have a second monitor plugged into my imac 5k-- I use it for playing videos while I'm doing other stuff. It extends my desktop.I've taken the time to finetune the virtual arrangement so that the cursor doesn't jump around as it crosses the bezels

Use multiple displays with your Mac

On the other hand, you might well be dissatisfied with the old screen looking rather blocky and obsolete next to your imac's built in 4k p3 ips display.

I usually watch h movies and shows on my iPad sitting in front of my monitor. so I can use the computer at the same time. but now maybe I will watch them on the iMac with the second screen going for the usual tasks. then my iPad will become obsolete (G) but I am spoiled already when I see the tv my daughter has one of those huge ones it never looks as good as my iPad.
