Hi everyone, a few thoughts on the new iPhones.

The iPhone 16 Pro line has a different treatment on the titanium frame, grade 5, called microblasted finish.

This makes the frame smoother and shinier, not brushed like the 15.

I assume the treatment is still PVD coated: any scratches will be visible on all colors, especially on the black one.

Another feedback I’ve seen from some YouTube videos (SuperSaf) is that the colors are different:

• The black is blacker
• The white is whiter

What’s your thoughts?

Won't be able to tell the difference in finish anyway.

Mine always sits in a case because I carry it on my belt.

Desert titanium w/ clear Apple case is the way I am going.

My wife has a 15 Pro and I think that is the best white phone I have ever seen because its not a white-white. I normally don't like white phones but the 15 Pro was amazing in color as it needed that creamy/pearl hint of yellow/tan to it. So a white phone that is whiter isn't appealing to me.

I have a 15 Plus that is black and I am all in favor of phones being a blacker black than what I have. My 15 Plus is basically very dark grey.

I prefer the stainless steel back. more durable than titanium. never had a scratch on my iPhone 14 Pro Max.
looked more expensive and nice compared to the titanium.
I have lots of scratches on the back plate of my current phone.

I’m not sure how I’ll feel about the new finish. I have the white 15 Pro, and I really like the brushed look. I use it naked, so I do see it all the time.

I liked this white so much that I went with white again, since the “color” option was boring to me. I’ll see how the thing finish looks and feels in a few hours.

I went natural titanium as my current 14p has tons of little nicks on the black PVD coating. I also never had it case-less so it is kind of weird

Interesting. My launch day iPhone 14 PM in black does not have a single scratch on the frame or its edges. Even checked with a magnification lens since I’m selling it soon. Only areas where mine has some micro scratches are around the charge port. But that also needs to be magnified to view.

The finish is very poor on the frame of my new iPhone 16 Pro Max out of the box, I’m taking this back to Apple tomorrow. The material is definitely a step down from the brushed titanium of last year sadly.

Definitely look out for this if you’re getting one.

I don’t see anything wrong in the picture, could you explain to us exactly what it’s about? I’m not being sarcastic.

Photos don’t show it well but it’s a rough and sharp feeling where the edge of the frame hasn’t been finished properly. It’s hard to take a picture of but it’s really obvious to the eye when light reflects on it.

Maybe if the phone was a budget china brand phone I wouldn’t care, but at the price this is with the apple quality tax on top, it just isn’t good enough.

I have that and a long vertical scratch on the frame out of the box! Wish Apple would give us what we paid for, a phone for 1+ Grand.

Wow that’s really bad and absolutely shocking quality control from Apple! I exchanged mine and got another one with a defect unfortunately. I’m on my 3rd phone now and it’s not perfect but it’s fine enough for me to live with.

Hope you get yours sorted too. Annoyingly I had to reserve a new phone myself else the waiting time would’ve been 3-4 weeks to get a new one.
