New to Apple Watch

Just got my first Apple Watch S6. On the back of the watch there looks to be a plastic “cover” over the sensors, should it be removed or is that a stupid question? Thanks

A picture would be helpful. A new watch does not have any wrappings on it, that need to be removed prior to use.

Mine has no such ‘cover’.

That is the blood oxygen/heart rate sensor. Don’t try and remove it.
