I am so glad I found this forum. It's my first post in my first Mac Forum, as I am moving more and more into the Mac world. I will be buying the Apple Watch soon. I have been reading here. I am happy to see I have a lot of info to read through, though I am also overwhelmed a bit. I want to read as much as I can before I buy my watch to be sure I am buying best option for me.

Right now, I am trying to figure out which to buy between the 38 mm and the 42 mm. I have to get to the Apple Store to try on, but I am pretty sure I already know the results. I really want the 42 mm. I think for both using/viewing and battery, it's the better choice. I suspect the 38 mm is the better choice insofar as how it will look on wrist. Form over function or function over form. Can't decide.

I know there are women who have the 42 mm, though I suspect most have 38 mm. Does anyone with smaller wrist have 42? My wrist is about 145 mm.

I will most likely be getting the Sport version. I haven't figured out among silver, rose gold or gold aluminum. I am leaning toward gold aluminum.

I am very impatient to buy the watch. Part of me thinks I should wait until newer version comes out, but I suspect I won't be able to wait that long - and, budget wise, I think the current Apple Watch works better.

Hello!

I have a small wrist 140mm! I opted for the 38mm Rose Gold Apple Watch Sport, but returned it for the 42mm Gold Apple Watch Sport ! I like the bigger screen and the gold pretty much looks nicer with the different bands in my opinion. Have you checked out www.mixyourwatch.com?

Great sale prices right now at B&H with gift card and even a extra band if I read someone's latest post right.

Your wrist size says 38 would be best and gold would look great with the midnight blue sport band as one example.

Welcome!

Thank you, thank your for the mixyourwatch.com link! I am in heaven. :) It really helps me to see options. I adore the turquoise with the gold aluminum. I have a feeling I am going to enjoy the accessory shopping. Maybe I will stop buying purses.

Will read the ladies thread too.

I feel like I've discovered some secret garden with a good book to read. :)

Even some of us guys love bands for matching with belts and shoes. I am up to 11 bands with the link being my favorite along with the classic black and saddle brown leather. Why I have four sport bands is beyond me. :)

See something for everyone. I am loving the black Milanese loop on my gold sport and the double tour replica bands I got from a seller in eBay. I picked up the brown, black and turquoise ones. I have 8 bands total so far and looking to pick up a few moko sport bands!

I purchased two leather bands from EBay for $25 each and they are not bad. One is green/gray and I love it when I wear gray. The other is an exact match to my mezlan belt and magnanni shoes. :)

Care to share the links? Which watch do you have?

I have the 42mm SS purchased with the classic black leather band originally. Still love that band.

Here is a picture of the eBay page since I am on my phone. Came from China but the quality is not bad. I have the two on the right side.

I am going to have to check those out! How is the SS holding up? How do you like the bands?

Holding up way better than I expected to be honest. Not a scratch on the screen and only minor scratches on the SS that would require me to be OCD to care and since I am older, I can't see them anyway.

I have not been gentle with the watch at all. I've banged it many times but never dropped. I golf, lift weights, run, swim, dig in the dirt and shower with it after swimming or digging in the dirt.

Those bands do not compare to apples leather bands but they are nice alternative colors of leather. I've seen some really nice knock off link bracelets for $80 and Milanese for a fraction of that. I think people are smart to buy eBay/Amazon sport bands because apples are overpriced but stupid me only bought apples.

Those leather bands look nice!

I keep looking at knockoff sport bands and I just like Apple's better. The silicon is sticky and rubbery feeling, Apple's are soft and pliable.

I have yet to get any additional bands but am definitely looking!

As I have been looking around, I am realizing that the Apple Watch comes in certain combinations - so if I want the gold aluminum in 42 mm, the midnight blue sport band is my choice. I am pretty sure I will go with bigger size. I was stressing about choice but then when I look at the Apple Watch compared to other watches, it's actually not super big. Either way, it will make a statement. Now, I do love the gold and midnight blue combination, even though midnight blue wouldn't be my first choice of band colors. But since I can switch out the band, it's not an issue. Plus I can already think of some outfits which will coordinate well with this combination.

My only regret is that I didn't try on the 38mm when I had it. But I like the 42mm and I opted for the gold with the midnight blue sports band. It's definitely an eye catcher lol. Either way big or small they are a super nice accessory.

All righty then. I am officially declaring myself insane over the issue of choice. I am like Barney from How I Met Your Mother. Whichever choice I go with, I second guess and want the other. Gold vs. Silver. 42mm vs 38mm. I was super excited that I ordered my watch and then I started second guessing my choices (I went with my first impressions with both color, size). To be honest, any of these choices are amazing and I can't go wrong. I did go with 42mm. My old person eyes were a factor + battery life. I am sure it will be big on me, but there are bigger watches. It's not as if even the 42mm is super giant in the watch world. I think when I read that women should wear 38mm (it looks better on smaller wrists), I doubt my choice. But really, I don't care what others think of how it looks on me. I just want ME to like it and be comfortable with it -- and when I consider how I like AW, I factor in ease of use insofar as seeing it, using it. I sometimes travel (will be going on overnight flight in few weeks) and want the longest battery life for travel purposes. I have officially spent more time deciding about this watch than any car I've bought.

Oh yeah, and I went with gold. Because gold makes me happy. But then there are so many amazing band choices for silver tones.

I clearly need two watches.

My sentiments exactly. Gold makes me happy, it's so vibrant. I was very indecisive when ordering my AW lol. I liked the silver too and the Rose Gold seeing that I have a Rose Gold iPhone 6s Plus. My watch looks rather masculine on me. I've ordered bands to make it look girly just haven't tried them on, waiting on my gold adapters to come in from Luvvitt on Amazon. Im so Happy for you, can't wait to see your watch. Congrats!

I had a friend who got a 42 mm for Christmas and she ended up trading it in for a 38 mm. I was able to play around with it and while it was nice to have the larger screen, it was just too big for me. From a size perspective, I love my 38 mm.

As for color, I was torn between silver, gold and rose gold. In some ways I wish I would have gone silver but I love that my rose gold matches my 6s Plus, plus I love that it is different. I only know three other people that have the AW, two with SB and one with silver. My silver choice would have been more about band color, I really liked the blue, so I ultimately decided to go different with the rose. My hope now is that Apple sticks with this color for both the phone and the watch so I get more band options!

The 42 looked too big on me. I liked the 38 better. I have no issue with battery life either. Small wrist= small fingers so no issue with screen size.
My wrist is somewhere between 6 and 6.5 inches ( I can't remember but think it was towards the smaller end of that)
I loved the look of gold with the blue band. I went with rose gold and lavender though. More my style. I do wish there was some more SB options with the rose gold pin
