Hi,

Have started ripping my first dvds with Handrake last night.

Have queued 6 episodes of a tv series, started the ripping and went to bed.

This morning:
- MBA asleep
- ripping stopped 3% of the way through ??

What is the point of queuing if the MBA goes to sleep and stops the ripping ?

Probably a setting I have wrong... Can someone shed some light please ?

Thanks,

W.

Handbrake

You need to disable the sleep feature. Handbrake can stop the mac from logging off the user but it does not have the authority to stop the mac from going to sleep.

I disable sleep altogether while the mac is plugged in and I enable the screen saver and screen power off after 20 minutes. This way I won't get screen burn-in while handbrake is running.

What settings are you using to convert the movies to ? Just curious.

so are you running handbrake on your MBA but ripping the dvd from a different computer?

This could be a number of things...

- is the disc you are trying to "rip" copy protected beyond the capacity of Handbrake to handle? Stopping at 3% is reminisce of what happens when Handbrake runs into a disc it can't handle.

- could it be an issue with your wireless connection between your Air and your DVD drive? Obviously unchartered waters for many of us - ripping a DVD via wireless. I could see where that could cause problems.

I have not touched my sleep settings on my iMac and don't have any issues using Handbrake personally.

Some clarifications:

- I am using the Superdrive to rip the DVD
- Don't know about the protection level of the DVD

=> But could very well be the sleep issue: where do I find the option to set up the sleeping options ?

Regarding my set up when burning, will need to get back to you tonight when I am home...
