New to Mac and forum, is it me?

ok, firstly hello, I’m looking for a little help. I bought my first MacBook Pro 15 a few weeks ago, but I’ve started seeing a problem. As I’m new to Mac it might be something I am doing, it seems to lock up? The curser arrow still moves with track pad or a connected mouse but I can’t click to start, select, shut or open anything.

Any ideas?

Is your Mac new, or did you purchase a used or refurbished?
Do you what year, or which specific model you have?

And also, what version of macOS is it running?

first place you might check is the preferences and make sure you did not turn off any point and click options? check the trackpad and mouse prefs

Also this can be different in OS versions and different hardware as mentioned above.

I've had that happen when my wireless Logitech mouse got confused and thought its left button was always pressed. I believe taking its battery out for a moment fixed it.

As DeltaMac stated some specifics on the Mac model might be helpful. Do you feel a "click" when pressing on the trackpad to select an item?

Sorry thanks for the help, it’s a brand new MacBook Pro 15 with touch bar bought 6 weeks again, running what ever the newest software is, does that help? Sorry I just turn my laptop on and use it when it goes wrong I’m stuck.

When it happens everything looks and feels as it should, touch pad feels 100% clicks and arrows moves as it should but the click doesn’t do anything.

I think it’ll be a trip to Genius Bar.

Spec? But I’m not sure if that before or flyer I noticed the problem?

Uninstall any thing new. Apps can cause this sort of issue.
