NEW TO MAC NEED HELP

I just got a mac mini, when I went to hook up my speakers they didnt work. Are there a special kind of speakers needed for the mini?

The speakers are Boston Digitl BA735

Do you have the digital/analog input BA735, or the USB input BA735USB ?

Digital BA735:

How are you attaching to the Mini?

OK, which port, specifically, are you attacing it to? The headphone out port? And that goes to which port on the Bostons?

You may be SOL on these speakers because it looks like they need proprietary drivers in order to work.

Yeah I am pluged into the headphone port. Where would I be able to get the drivers?

I don't think you can get speakers to work through headphone jacks (at least on any Mac I've tried with).

Maybe you can use an iMic's audio output jack?

There are conflicting reports on these speakers, some say they only work with a digital input, others say there is an analog (line level or headphone type) input. Plus there's a version that is for Gateway PCs only.

You are going to have to go to your speakers' instruction manual or get to Boston Acoustics on this, whether they work or not will be up to the speakers' design and requirements for software drivers (although if they have an analog input they should not need to use software drivers).

I've never seen it work on a headphone out jack.. only on a real audio out jack. Reality might differ from my experiences though! 🙂

my speakers work(ed) fine with every headphone jack i connect(ed) them to.
