New to MAC- Picture Orientation Issue

Hey everyone, I just bought a Macbook Pro and I'm still not very familiar with it. Whenever I try to change my facebook profile pic or msn display pic, when I select the JPEG File, which is a portrait orientated pic, for some reason, the system changes the orientation to landscape.😕
Does anyone have any idea of why does this happen and how can I change these settings so I can just select the pic in it's original orientation?

@patysaito, it sounds like your camera has added EXIF orientation data to your photo. You can remove it with a free program like below:
http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/20262/iphoto-exif-cleaner

Or google for "remove Exif Mac OS X" for more information.

I haven't used the program above, so I can't vouch for it, but it is free and is on macupdate, which is a clean site.
