New to Mac world

Hi all. I just bought a new white macbook and its great. My girlfriend and dad just bought their first macs, and I'm the most recent convert. I have a few newbie questions maybe you can help me out with: When I make changes to my dock logged on as the administrator, I don't see those changes when logged on as a standard user. I guess that makes sense, so as to personalize each user's desktop when logged in as such, but is there a way of making the appearance the same no matter who is logged in? Second, can those more experienced mac users out there provide links to help me get started with learning the mac interface?
