Hi. I'm new to Macs and having a couple of set up problems:-

1) When looking for images in Google I only get the first 3 lines and then the rest are greyed out boxes. How do I correct this?

2) Can I set it so each folder sorts files by kind?

Thanks

1) maybe an internet or browser issue. dont know about this one. hopefully it will correct itself.

2) use list view by clicking the icon with 4 horizontal lines or press command+2 and sort the kind column. it wont show folders first like Windows tho.

Yes it is Safari - resetting doesn't solve it.

With regards to folders - can I set it so that folders default to kind? I seem to spend an inordinate amount of time sorting the folders!

Right click empty folder space, select 'view options'.

Select your preferred view settings and click the button at the bottom 'use as defaults'.

Also if your really want folders at the top, there is a plugin called total finder, which also adds tabs. It does cost money unfortunately.

What might be your internet's download speed.

My iMac with safari seems to work fine with loading all the images at once, it's only when I scroll down to they turn into grey squares, but they download soon after as well.
