iPod touch New to Touch - need AV out help!

I have had mp3 players, but the Touch is my first Apple product, so I have not frame of reference. Once I got the Touch, I did update the firmware to the 2.0 version. I then began to gather accessories and apps to my liking. One thing I have not been able to work out is the AV out. I ordered a cable from eBay but when it came it did not work. The vendor then told me it was not compatible with the upgrade. So how do I find a cable so that I can watch vids on my TV?

does the av cable connect to the dock connector or the headphone jack. the touch only has av out on the dock connector unlike many other devices.

you need a special cable (maybe a dock too, can't remember)
