If the built quality is comparable to the 28-70 mm Tokina I had a few years ago, you're in for a treat. These things are built like tanks. This lens impacted with over 30 km/h on the pavement. The body died, the lens was just fine (apart from some slight scratches, a broken UV filter and a broken lens hood.
I finally got around to shooting off some test shots with the 16-28!
Turns out I really like shooting video with the 5D Mark II

Link to a video I shot of some snowboarding two nights ago. Used Tokina 16-28 f/2.8 + Tamron 60 f/2.
Anyways, here are some SOOC (Only shifted WB, exposure, and some rotation). Shot most of these at the St. Paul Winter Carnival Parade. The other ones were shot around the apartment and at my girlfriends house.
Impressions on the lens: Love it! Super smooth focus and zoom actions, sharp from center to corner as far as I can tell, even at f/2.8. Very happy with Tokina right now!
