That's why.

And for people complaining about the speaker in the back, take a look at any stand alone GPS and tell me where it is. Like the other poster stated, they're in the back and you can hear them fine so what makes you think this would be any different? We don't even know the price or build/sound quality ATM any ways so why so much complaining?

Wow, I bet that GPS chip is really expensive. :rolleyes: I thought someone just posted a link to a website that it listed.
 
Does anyone know what the cheapest tomtom navigation unit you can buy? Because if the iPhone mount cost more than a navigation unit it's a rip off.

it is going to cost more because rumors are the mount will cost around $100.00, add that to the application and you have a $200.00 GPS Machine.

That is why I am hesitant on buying it.

On one hand, it would be nice to have TomTom on my iPhone so I can have one in all.

However, I cannot imagine the TomTom on the iPhone can be better than the stand alone, cheapest TomTom GPS.
 
Why doesn't Garmin come with something? Their standalones are the best, IMO.
 
By the time this tomtom car kit becomes available the new iphone will be out with a total re-design of the hardware, well maybe that is ;) This tomtom car kit will most likely be useless, they should have made it to fit future iphones with dock adaptors to suit the current iPhone & future iPhones.

I have upgraded to every iPhone so far and will continue doing so, I can't see myself spending money on a tomtom car kit every year or so

Yeah, that's a good point. And I can't see the car mount holding its value like the iPhone. :(

I keep trying to wait, but I'm tempted to just bite the bullet and get Navigon.
 
I can't wait until this is released and a few weeks later a far east company has started making really good clones at the fraction of a price which you'll find on ebay. Screw tomtom and it's ripoff pricing!
