They haven’t posted any leaks of new designs and it’s 3 months away. I highly high highly doubt a redesign is happening. I think it’ll just be a chip upgrade or stay the course and no upgrades this year. Typically 6 to 8 months before a new device or redesign there’s leaks already.

With that being said ultra 1 here and perfectly happy with mine.
I agree. We should be seen videos of dummy units already if such redesign is coming in 3 months. We have already seen several videos of upcoming iPhones already.

I’m thinking about getting an Ultra 3 to replace my degraded Series 10 GPS only model. I want cellular, better battery life, night mode, and WatchOS 26 instead of 27 cause I love walkie talkie and don’t want siri AI. Should I upgrade?

If you can wait till September when the AWU4 comes out, I would hold off before purchasing a new Apple Watch. At this point you have tolerated your Series 10, if you can hold off I would wait. It might be worth it if the AWU4 has what has been rumored . . .

The rumored specifications include:
  • Design: Thinner titanium chassis and slimmer bezels for improved everyday wearability while retaining durability.
  • Performance: An S11 chip for faster processing and better power efficiency, which may push battery life beyond 48 hours.
  • Health & Sensors: A new eight-sensor ring on the back that gathers multi-point data, enabling blood pressure monitoring and advanced cardiovascular alerts.
  • Security & Features: Potential Touch ID integration and advanced satellite capabilities, including possible Apple Maps support.
  • Software: Powered by watchOS 27, integrating Apple Intelligence and a dedicated new Siri app

It comes down to what is important to you when you upgrade from your Series 10 Apple Watch. 👍 I'm waiting to see if the rumored health and sensors actually enables blood pressure monitoring. If so then I will make the upgrade from my AWU2 to the new AWU4.

There's likely going to be a price increase on it in the Fall. I'd personally wait as its just another 2-3 months. Coming from an Ultra 1 owner, if the Ultra 4 has specs and features that I want, I'll get it. If not, I'll hold onto my current AW until the next one and decide again there.

The thinness and touch ID would be nice to have features that made me consider waiting, but I really wanted to hold on to walkie talkie and by extension OS26, So I went ahead and upgraded to an Ultra 3 through my carrier. I got 200 off plus half off on the cellular plan and I’m gonna apply any money I get from selling my S10. So I got the Ultra for somewhere around 450 all said and done depending on my S10’s sell price.

That price increase would be a problem for me since I’m a student on a budget. I’ve wanted the Ultra 3 since launch, I just couldn’t make the numbers work and was taking copium telling myself I didn’t need Ultra features and my S10 was enough. That lead to my Series 10 aging faster than it should have cause it wasnt built for the situations I put it through. I would love the rumoured design of the Ultra 4, but the Ultra 3 is really impressing me.

That's an awesome deal for the AWU3, congrats!!

Ultra 3 are currently $150 off through Prime and others.

We have to consider Apple will raise the price of the Ultra 4 just like they did other Apple products recently.

I think a $649 Ultra 3 sounds more enticing than a potential $50-$100 price increase.

$649 Ultra 3
Vs
$849 $899 Ultra 4

Would you guys pay that?

You’d have to be almost silly to buy Ultra 3 knowing it uses the same chip as Ultra 2. If anybody learned anything from watchOS 27, it’s that Apple only updates chips every three years.

Oops. Yeah, I have to have mine set to no haptics in silent while at school.

For the money, I don't see much of an issue. I spent rougly 450 all in all. I expect to get about 4 years before my battery is in need of replacement. That's 112 a year, which is close to my expectation of 100 per year for all my Apple gear. (iPhone is about $600 with carrier deals and usually gets 6 years of updates. Airpod Pros were 200 with Amazon deal and need new batteries by late year two in my usage experiance. So forth and so on.) Anyways, if year 4 is when software support ends, so be it. I'll trade and upgrade if the ultra at the time interests me, or I'll battery replace and just stick with an older watchOS for a year or two. Currently, I intend to stay on watchOS26 indefinitely just to keep walkie talkie, so the Ultra 4 was off the table and the Ultra 3 was the best option.

I would hold off getting the Ultra 4 (if it shows up in Sept) unless I can get $100 off from costco (which actually happens more often than you think) and the return policy falls within the new watch release window. In other words, I can get AWU3 and can return it if the AWU4 is released, I can get my hands on it, and it is worth the money.
