This is NO Eye Tracking...

:(..simply aware of head movement. That´s far away from eye tracking. Comparing apples and oranges.

Not just that, but it's also not like this "game" (more like tech demo) is preinstalled on new iPhones and marketed by Apple as a major selling point of their new phone.

It seems like a bunch of MacRumors readers have switched to a Samsung phone and will upvote any positive comment about Samsung, no matter how dumb, to validate their purchase.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the community here is going downhill. We should of course not blindly defend Apple either, but at least try to stay on-topic and rational, and not upvote those who aren't. But you'll often see a totally illogical, off-topic comment about Samsung in top comments instead...

Google paid them off! Or their nest thermostat is threatening them to upload a video on YouTube of what hey did last night by their computers... :D

And Apple's not involved.

I'm trying to imagine why anyone would expect people to have great loyalty to some company called Umoove that nobody ever heard of--and then be offended in advance by that loyalty?

Really? Anti-Umoove trolling? All over a cool little tech demo with some future potential?

Samsung trolls have gotten increasingly bizarre.

Just like the company they 'represent', they always wanted to be first.

Right. Samsung features are only called "gimmicky" because people have double standards, but in reality, something like Smart Pause or Smart Scroll are just as functional and polished as Touch ID.

They're also so similarly useful that a similar proportion of those respective phone users must use them.

Right?

Oh, never mind that every possible review is trashing those Samsung eye-tracking features, mentioning they work like 10% of the time and wouldn't even be that useful even if they worked, whereas they're praising Touch ID everywhere. The whole tech media has a bias, but fortunately there's people like you who don't.

Why don't you go ahead and find ONE person who has dismissed Samsung's eye tracking features as a gimmicky, and has also glowingly endorsed somebody else's eye tracking features as a great innovation with lots of potential.

Or perhaps you're just another one of these people that can't grasp that a forum with thousands of members may be able to express conflicting opinions from time to time.

Edit: Or why don't I go right ahead and read the post properly...

Useless gimmick.

Oh wait, this isn't Samsung? Then, it's the most revolutionary thing ever existed!!

It is a useless gimmick...But I think that's what it's supposed to be. Samsung didn't want their motion tracking/facial recognition features to be considered "useless gimmicks"...But they were.

And Apple has nothing to do with this app other then approving it. So your comment/dig against apple fans is invalid. And you can bet that if apple ever comes out with facial recoginition or motion tracking it will work a whole lot better then Samsungs attempt....Still might be a gimmick, but it'll work.

It's not just a matter of conflicting opinions, it's that people bring up pretty much anything that's not even relevant with the article just to start a flame war. And even worse, they get even more attention because people upvote them.

I wouldn't mind having conflicting on-topic opinions that are rational and well thought-out.

If you think I'm against anything positive being said about Samsung or anything negative said about Apple, you're not getting what I'm complaining about. People can have the opinions they want. I'm simply against trolling.

If some people really think Samsung is victim of double standards, then show some proofs, try to explain your observations, and most importantly, do it in a thread about Samsung, not one where it's not mentioned anywhere. What happened here is simply flamebait.

Yeah, fair enough, sorry. I saw 'double standards' and pretty much missed your point.
