New upgrade to Photos on mac, editing not showing

Sorry but I couldn't find anything with the search function here.

I just upgraded to the new photos app on my macbook. But any edits I make to a photo don't appear at all. Filters do nothing, adjusting sliders do nothing. What am I missing?

I have seen this happen a few times myself.

That is, I try to use the editing tools to adjust a photo, and nothing (in the photo) seems to change.

Solutions I found:

1. Try quitting Photos and re-launching it.

If that doesn't help...

2. Log yourself out, log back in, re-open Photos, and try again...
