Wow. Considering the Gen 1 Apple Pencil has increased $30 over time, despite now being what 7 years old? Surely Apple could have stretched to including this in the box moving forward?

There has to be more to this. I hope there is a new Apple pencil in the works. Perhaps with both magnetic charging and usb-c.

Is the apple pencil subject to the EU charging law?

More than likely. But we're now also unlikely to see any meaningful iPad updates until early 2024 (based on usual timescales between updates), so it's also unlikely we'll see a new pencil before then too.

Ya that's the rotten part. My hunch is they were hoping to have the Apple Pencil 3rd gen ready for today, but it wasn't.

Even still, buying now with uncertainty about what might come later is no fun. I have an order in for the 10th gen, but I'm thinking of cancelling it and at least waiting until I can get it on sale.

I don't even have any interest in the pencil, but the clear confusion and lack of future product strategy has me wanting to wait for the smoke to clear. This number of SKUs isn't really sustainable IMO as the Air and 10th gen are really similar now.

All we really needed today from the base iPad was a new processor, 2nd gen pencil support, and usb-c. The redesign and $120 increase was unnecessary/unwanted. The appeal of the base iPad was $329. Now the base iPad and Air are mostly the same.

If they had to keep the original pencil for this new iPad, they should have just made something like this but with USB C. I use this with my first gen pencil/older iPad and it’s much better than carrying an adapter or charging it from the side of the iPad itself. At least the adapter would be permanently attached to the pencil and you wouldn’t have to carry around a separate adapter thingy. So dumb.

Im so confused with what this is. Where's the thing that plugs into the iPad?

I wonder if the Pencil can be connected to the iPad 10 via a USB-C to Lightning cable using the old Lightning to Lightning adapter that came in the Pencil box.

Just a thought, technically it should work so people don’t need to buy an adapter 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m wondering if this will charge and play music from my lightning connector to my iPad Pro in the car. I don’t want to rerun a usb-c cable and if i could use this to just attack a little usb-c jumper to my iPad it would work great.

Anybody know?

I give it a 75% chance of working?..?

I would appreciate if someone could try this please :)

Just wondering if there is something special with the new adapter.

Update: I saw a Reddit post and it won't work.
