Hi Forum

I am 3 days into my first AW and have my first question.
Hope it is OK to ask a “which AW..question”

Bought an SE Nike edition 40mm cellular.
Really happy with my purchase and the possibilities.

But:
Now, the local shops have discounts on the AW series 5, 40mm cellular ( non Nike).
I can “upgrade” to a series 5 for 50$ / 43€ and need advice.

# I don’t think I would use the ECG support.
Although my little kid has Had heart surgery, I’m not confident in using this technique on a child.
I am the only user, and don’t want to test my kid regularly with my AW...it would just cause more worry...

# I wouldn’t use the “always on” feature.
Actually I like that the screen is off.

With these features out of the way, is there any other reason to (bother to) switch to an AW5?
As far as I can see, the processors are similar?
I am mostly thinking long term - want use this watch as long as possible.

thank you

You have answered all the questions that any of us could have asked.
Would you use the ECG? You have already said no.
Would you like the always on screen? Again that’s a no.
The S5 doesn’t do the blood oxygen anyway so that’s not a problem.

The S5 is also the same sensors and chipset as the SE watch. So moving to an S5 would bring you no benefit at all if you do not need the features above.

Thank you very much!
Offcourse...no Oxygen on AW5...I changed the original post.

I knew the 5’s would go on sale this week, but choose to buy an SE directly from Apple to be sure I could return it if I didn’t like the “overall watch experience“ as a firstwatchbuyer. And I like the Nike edition / cellular. Hard to find on sale.

great!

No problem, it looks like you did plenty of research on the differences beforehand anyway since you immediately said no to them in your original post.
I hope you enjoy your new SE, I only got my S5 in June as a gift and have absolutely loved the experience so far.

Nice to receive a gift like that.

Yes I tried to research and understand the differences...spent too much time reading blogs, forums, reviews
I just want to know if there is some small differences and details that users just observed few weeks after SE release (battery life, altimeter, Screen etc).

Anyway, I really enjoy my SE and should avoid buyers OCD = I will keep it.

Thanks again

I agree with this, though I do wonder why you wouldn't use AOD… it me, it's the best upgrade the AW has seen since… well, maybe ever.

Thanks to everybody - good to hear.

Regarding AOD, it would offcourse be a plus to have the feature available...and then choose to use it or not.

But after I have started to use my SE, I’m pretty sure I would turn it off if
- even if AOD was implemented.
I dont know why...I prefer to be more private with a Black screen, and the Watch doesnt “speak to me” all the time...only When I raise my arm.
But...I havent riding a bike yet..that might change my view.

It is not enough to pay 50$ more and spend time to return/buy new
I guess 😜
