I have a Windows TrueType font that will install on OSX (10.6.4) but does not show anything. When I install it on a windows computer it shows the font.

    Any ideas to fix this?

When asking for help with software, you should give the name of the software and its source. In the case of your problematic font, what is its name and where did you get it?

    Opps, sorry.

It is called 'Gradin Symbols' and is used in linguistics and phonology. I received it from a training institute who shrugged their shoulders when I told them it would not work in OSX.

I can find no reference in Google to a font named Gradin Symbols. I can, however, find references to Grading Symbols, which are completely different animals. The symbols used for grading papers are not to be confused with phonetic and linguistic characters.

I have located four linguistic fonts. However, I have no idea if they are the same as your problematic fonts. Many Mac fonts are mapped as additional characters in the fonts already installed. Symbol behaved this way since the early days of the Mac. Perhaps you are not seeing your added fonts because you are not looking in the right place. Check out the Character Viewer.
You may see your characters there.
