    Hey all,

Long time reader, first time poster.

I have just bought my first Mac and have been looking for the best applications to install. I found the following list on Twitter that seems to have a lot of good ones:

Any other good application recommendations? I do some basic web development, word processing, internet etc. I would also be interested in any cool productivity or utility applications.

    Thanks.

That list is a good starting point. It's kind of pointless to say "I'm looking for a good utility app"- ok? A utility for what? Wait until you need something and then ask (or better yet, search).

Btw, you can use full links like: http://www.lifeintech.co.uk/mac-101/top-mac-applications.html

Have a look at the following links, as the information presented there might be helpful in your future endeavours into Mac OS X and could clear up initial confusion and may even prevent harm to your system or your files.

You'd be better served to search the forum for threads like this. There are many of them, so there is a lot of good stuff—it's just not in one thread. Also, just asking for apps in general, you're going to miss stuff. I've occasionally found apps by doing searches for 'best apps...' but usually it's by a more specific, "I wonder if there is something that does..."

That said, two great things to start with are

1Password (Cannot suggest it more highly.)
Dropbox (especially if you use multiple computers, but even if you don't because of the sharing. PM me or a referral link if you want.)

Thanks for the updates. I guess I meant tools like GeekTool when I said utility. I love playing with that sort of stuff and the Mac is a whole new world for me now. :D

The before mentioned link (http://www.lifeintech.co.uk/mac-101/top-mac-applications.html) has some really cool stuff. I am really liking the look of apps like LittleSnapper, RapidWeaver, Socialite and Coda.

I have also began my hunt of the forum :D
