the imaging they did for that commercial was great... with the song playing on the iphone (or at least sounding like it), then back to the real song...

Agreed. I don't even care for Shazaam but I had to play that ad 3 times back-2-back. It's very clever. Apple really knows how to advertise a product in 30 seconds.

Is it possible Loopt is not available in Canada? Can't find it in the list..

loopt is so creepy!

Haha, i was thinking the same thing. I like the Shazam ad and the song at the end. It transitions very well. I think it's also the first iPhone ad (of this style with the hand holding it) that doesn't end in the iPhone receiving a call. Darn, I want an iPhone now just so I can use Shazam. Owell, I like my 2G iPod touch too .

Apple has posted two new ads to their website titled Shazam and Loopt.

Shazam
Shazam [App Store] is a popular application that can identify songs via the iPhone's built-in microphone.

Meanwhile, Loopt [App Store] was profiled by Apple during WWDC 2008 and has been described as location aware social networking.

Wow- I'd love to watch these on my iPhone but you can't. Apparently even Apple doesn't make videos that play on this thing!

I noticed that too but I think they just added a sound filter to the music. I like the way they intergraded the beginning of the song like all the other commercials and then they introduce the words without interrupting the song.

Shazam is awesome! My friends and I use it all the time, and they all wish
they had an iPhone every time they see me use it, or when they ask me to
identify a song for them. :D

Are my friends using me to get to my iPhone?:confused: Lol.

When I go to the Apple website, none of their videos work on Firefox or Explorer. I can only watch their videos on the Safari browser that "piggybacks" on the iTunes update downloads. Isn't that illegal (anticompetitive) to make your websites ONLY work with your own browser?

Yes it would be if this was the case and not a problem with your machine and software.

Same. Actually Midomi has more, and better features, but the accuracy of the two is about parallel.

It may have more features, but personally speaking I'm somewhat dubious as to whether or not it's even parallel to Shazam.

I'm yet to have any success with Midomi... But as a previous poster already pointed out, it's free so therefore it's worth giving a shot!!

What the heck are you on about?!? Next you'll be saying it only works on Safari under Mac...

IE7, Firefox 3 and Safari 3... They all work!!

Very similar idea to the Urban Spoon with the tagline: Solving life's dilemma's, one app at a time.

Now on Apple.com

Must be the new approach. I like it -- it shows the cool apps that have pushed a lot of people to buying the phones.

have all the commercials said "sequence shortened" ?

no, just the recent ones. I guess too many people complained that the real phone isn't anywhere close to that fast/stable...

Anyways, love the song!

The main difference between Shazam and Midomi is that you can actually sing or hum a song to Midomi and it will tell you who it is. (Well not everytime) but it does work because my friend is from El Salvador and used to listen to a lot of 80's music when he lived there and he's always mumbling songs that he wants to know who they are and we've been able to track them down using Midomi.

Um, why isn't anyone asking about who's paying for these ads? I admit, they are freakin great ads, and add to the appeal of the phone for those out there who still are in the dark, but, um, you think Shazam has the money to invest in this? It's freeware...
