I see Apple has a support article up as of yesterday.

It doesn't explain why the clear case doesn't work, and doesn't mention 3rd party cases, but does say it has a NFC chip. I have a moment case and am not optimistic it will work, but I still don't understand why. I am not sure how useful find my for the wallet will be (without precision tracking and other airtag like qualities).

My understanding is that with the new wallet findmy feature, you’ll get a notification on your phone if the wallet is detached for more than 10 minutes.

So it could be useful because you’ll be notified soon after separation.

My new wallet arrived today as well. Connected it to my iPhone 12 Pro with iOS 15 installed, and it led me through steps to include it in FindMy. As for notifications, the notification option will alert you if the wallet has been detached for more than 1 minute. There is also a phone number option so that when someone else puts your wallet on their phone, your phone number shows up.

I had the wallet but the problem is that unlike a normal wallet where you take it out of your pocket and take out whatever card you want from the wallet, with the Apple wallet you have to take your iPhone out your pocket then detach the wallet from the phone and then take the card out.
Why do you need to take it out of your pocket to detach it?

Edited for a word.

Wasn’t going to buy another one, but that green is just going to look so good with my case. I’m excited to receive it. I still don’t see why at the very minimum, the phone can’t keep up with when MagSafe accessories are attached/detached right now, but all it takes for me to buy something is to offer it to me in green or blue 😂.

I just slide mine off my phone while it’s in my pocket if I need to use it.
