So now in the health app there is a new set of data for hypochondriacs to worry about, heart rate variability or HRV, what the heck is this and when should I be worried:D

I pretty much got my heart rate perfected and lowered my resting heart rate 10 points with more exercise, still working on getting my heart rate lower while exercising, now this HRV pops up.

Not even sure how they collect this data? I’m guessing an average over 24 hours?

So anyone familiar with HRV?

Seems to get data 2-3 times a day at unspecified times. But also gets data if you use the Breathe app. I find I get a much higher reading when using the Breathe app which is nice to see but I wonder how useful it is, and it skews the average / trend line.

More information is needed from Apple. What is the significance of the numbers and units (ms). How is the calculation made? Without this, I’m guessing the best use of the HRV feature is to look at increases or decreases over a week or so, to assess stress and rested state for training (and to avoid use of the Breathe app).
