You completely underestimate people’s ability to go out of their way to get their latest and greatest at all costs. The sales number may not be what Wall Street maniacs hope for, but it will sell a lot.
Heh. The latest and greatest isn't so great when you're a guy who takes a ride in a car maybe once a month at the most... as a passenger 😂

So discounted S7 it is. If people want to judge me because I'm not wearing the latest and greatest, that's frankly their problem, not mine. I'm a PC gamer and we have some pretty exceptional GPUs and CPUs coming out soon, so I have plenty of things I can spend the money saved on. Getting a higher framerate, better visuals or simply maintaining my current target framerate at lower power usage/less heat (depending on which game I play) is vastly more useful to me than knowing when my male body is ovulating 🤣

Pricing seems a bit random.

For example taking the Dutch VAT rate of 21%, the before tax price of the Ultra is:
EUR999 / 1.21 = EUR 825

In Switzerland the watch is CHF849 with 7.7% VAT which results in:
CHF849 / 1.077 = CHF788

At todays exchange rate CHF788 = EUR807

So it looks like Apple charges nearly EUR20 more for the Ultra in the EU. Could this be due to import duties?

Was waiting to upgrade from an S3, but just saw the prices for the new watches:
Apple Watch 8 41mm GPS starting at €499, 45mm GPS starting at €539 ?!?!?!? The Ultra is €999.....o_O

These prices are bonkers - I'll be sticking with my S3. They are not going to sell alot of these watches in Europe at these prices!
this is not Apple fault...the Ultra is really good money compared to the competition. Apple kept their prices..so say ty Apple for that, same goes for iphones 14 pro etc
This is called inflation sadly so say ty to this to the man in the far east of Europe

Yes, but we have inflation in Switzerland too. And our wages are way higher than in the EU. So somehow it seems unfair. But hey, I don't complain......just ordered one :p

but again this inflation affects the world much more this year than the last 2 years combined
What model you ordered ?

It is all about the strong dollar. As high as prices are for people in the EU, many will pay as the iPhone has become such an important piece of equipment. Just think of the number of hours you use your phone.

I’m in UK and have noticed this. The AW is becoming a bit of a hard sell, especially when you compare it to offerings from Garmin. What’s more I don’t even see any deals on previous models, they seem to just be same price while new models will come in more expensive. There’s was two ways to do it I guess, you could have reduced the old models to clear keeping new stock in or around same price as previous models of you could just keep old model same price and make new model more expensive , they chose the later option. Unless you’re a dedicated fanboy looking the latest and greatest I don’t see why you’d pick the more expensive. Meanwhile some retailers in US have been having $100 off deals on some previous models, SE1 on Amazon for example

Apple does not want european money as eager anymore.
I disregress, i buy all my apple stuff in Hong Kong anyway.

Purchase abroad and it still works fine over here??
Although any warranty work would be an issue, no?
