Want to pick your brains a bit here folks. Staying in NY from 27- 30 May. Treat for my brothers 40th. I am flying in from London, he is flying in from Toronto. Staying at the New York Palace Hotel.
Suggestions of what to do or see. Hot tips from you locals? Looking forward to a great time in the city that never sleeps. ( that would be the jet lag ) :D

there is the 5ht ave apple store that is a nice site. then across the street there is central park, and the Dakota/strawberry fields the memorial to john Lennon where he was shot and killed. also times square an amazing place only a couple blocks form the apple store. there is Dylans candy shop it has every candy u can possibly think of also around the apple store. oh and there is the discovery channel exhibit, they are currently showing artifacts from pompeii and the world harry potter exhibition. and then there is broadway, and Rockefeller center, St. Patricks cathedral, and all the rest of the stores in that area including the hearsheys store, sony , nintendo world. and NY has the best pizza so i would go to johns pizzeria right on W44 st. if u have an iphone or something that has maps u should go to all these places. i love going to manhattan its a great place to just plan a trip, its alot of walking but defiantly worth it.

Dont bring a firearm...

Many people don't know that it is illegal to carry a firearm in the state of new york regardless if you have a permit from another agency to carry it.

I'm not a local but I've been there about 15-20 times over the past 3 years.

I'm all about the food
- Grimaldi's in Brooklyn is my favorite pizzeria
- Brooklyn Ice Cream factory is a half a block away (get Peaches N Cream)
- Rice to Riches has good rice pudding
- The Cafeteria in Chelsea has good Mac n Cheese
- S'MAC is an all Mac N Cheese spot
- Shake Shack has awesome burgers and desserts
- Joe's Shanghai is known for their soup dumplings
- Ninja New York is probably the most fun I've ever had eating in a restaurant
- Ippudo has those pork buns I wish I ate more of
- White Castle (yeah I like it)
- I also got a soft spot for Coogan's but that's mostly because I stayed in the Heights

Other than that...
- Times Square
- Central Park
- Museum of Natural History
- Ground Zero, Empire State, all the iconic buildings, etc
- See a Broadway show
- Take the subway everywhere

And I'm hope the weather is not too muggy for you

Thanks for all the help MRers. Keep it coming.

Brooklyn Bridge is a must - maybe on route to Coney Island.
All the food tips are brilliant. I can snack all weekend.
New York Philharmonic - will have to do some research to see what is on.
Apple store will be visited but will only go inside if i am on a midnight jet lag induced walkabout.
St. Patricks for Sunday morning mass.
Phew ... think I need a whole month for NY NY.
I will make sure I do not bring my gun. It may be spotted at customs.
