any thoughts on the best place to try for a walk-in iphone4 in new york city?

i'm thinking the 5th avenue store is probably not a good idea... would best buy, or at&t store be better?

how early should i go camp out? any suggestions or advice? thanks!

Well, you can't go to AT&T stores as they won't start selling to the generally public until the 29th.

This is New York City, every Apple store will be ridiculously packed on Thursday. Good luck.

I kind of want to stay away from the 5th ave one like the plague... i was thinking the Soho or 14th St... Or maybe the best buy in Union Square?

I'd just wait until 1am and go up to the 5th Ave store. They usually have stock at the end of every launch day. By the next day, it will be slim pickings.

Don't even bother with best buy. My best buy has over 40 pre-orders and they are only getting 2 32gb and 3 16gb in as of now.

They'll all have ridiculous lines but either W. 14th St. or UWS should be the least worst of the lot. SoHo is in a very tourist location and many attempting to avoid 5th will head there.

anybody know how long the lines are at nyc apple stores? what time do you think we have to get there in order to be able to get a walk in phone?

Now. I think there are already a bunch of people lining up, and with no reservation or pre-order, you may have some trouble. Wait for a couple more replies though before you head out for the day...

Do a youtube search for the iPhone 3G launch at the 5th avenue store, the line will stretch around the block.

Any updates on various stores in NYC?

Soho?
14th St?
5th ave?

My iPhone is getting delivered tomorrow but wanted to purchase a bumper and also check out the iPhones on display.

Staying away from the 5th ave location...that place is ALWAYS a madhouse.

I'm sure we'll be able to walk in by the weekend. They get shipments of stock almost every day at the 5th ave store. It's a mess for a reason: they practically never run out of stock.
